KKL Kultur und Kongresszentrum, Luzern Switzerland

Jean Nouvel designed the KKL Luzern (Kultur- und Kongresszentrum) and Kunstmuseum Luzern Museum of Art Lucerne. The building is a convention center and concert hall, completed in 2000.

The cantilevered roof wedges into a very thin slice over the public space next to Lake Lucerne. The interior lobby features a pool that is traversed by wood plank walkways. The convention center has three halls, a Crystal Loung, conference, and presentation spaces. The main concert hall has 1,800 seats. The repetition of steel members and imaginative light sources in this $120 million project is a hallmark of Jean Nouvel's designs.
