Bakers Delight - my cooking experience & insight on baking hot cross buns

I love buying my bread from Bakers Delight. Its so fresh, there is a great variety and best of all it tastes great.

I was invited to cover a baking event at Bakers Delight, how exciting! I got to experience first hand what its like to bake from scratch fresh hot cross buns. The choc chip flavour. Yummy!!
Let me show you how its done! First of all I put on the uniform provided so I was a true Bakers Delight baker. ( well not really but I pretended!)
Daniel the franchisee of the store is a fantastic baker with over seventeen years experience. He talked me through the process whilst showing me how its all done. First the big mixing bowl where the dough and choc chips were mixed together.

Its important that the right amount of ingredients go in and that the temperature is checked. Once its right the dough is ready. Now its time to place the dough on a tray and have it cut into the right round hot cross bun pieces. Once we did that we placed the tray with the dough on it, into the cutting machine.

This machine cuts the hot cross buns in the perfect round shape.

Now its time for the hot cross buns to be lined up on the baking try and have their chocolate crosses placed on them. Once this was done into the big oven they went for twenty minutes.

As they were coming out of the oven they smelt delicious. Once they came out we glazed them and then they were ready to eat. Yummy!!

My kids enjoyed eating the hot cross buns. My kids couldn't believe I baked them - well actually Daniel the real Bakers Delight baker did all of the cooking, but I did help. Here is the video if you would like to see how it was all done.

Thanks so much to Bakers Delight for giving me a insight and first hand experience into how the most delicious hot cross buns are made.

Make sure you pick up some yummy hot cross buns the next time your at Bakers Delight. You will love them!

Porter Robinson, Have You Heard of Him?

Porter Robinson. Have you heard of him? Well here he is. Check out his massive original mix Say My Name. I have this song on repeat. Hailing from North Carolina, 18-year-old Porter Robinson had never set foot in a club when his smash hit Say My Name shot to number one on Beatport's Electro-House Chart. Also, check out his remix to Tim Berg’s Seek Bromance. That song is #legit!

Hôtel de région Rhône Alpes Lyon Confluence , Lyon France

Christian de Portzamparc designed the headquarters for the Rhone-Alpes Regional Council. It will be completed this year, in the Lyon confluence development. It uses a green roof, solar panels, and recycled materials to emphasize sustainability. Meeting rooms, exhibition, and committee spaces are centered around a grand glassed atrium. The atrium's roof can be opened to cool the building naturally. It has 30,000 m2 of office space and acts as a grand "showcase" for the neighborhood.

The Rhône and Saone rivers meet at the Lyon Confluence district. This 1999 Grand-Lyon project aims to take back this peninsula from industry and give it a natural setting. It creates a new central neighborhood with public transportation and natural landscapes, with mixed housing, commercial, and cultural buildings. It sets a high goal of 50% renewable electricity for communal areas.

Norman Foster, Engel Zimmerman, Francis Soler, and Vasconi Architects are also contributing to the urban city center. This red building looks similar to Zaha Hadid's Opus Duabi:

Max Factor Lipfinity review

lip balm and the lip colour 191 bronzed
Longer lasting lipstick is something a lot of us look for in a lipstick. Now there are some great products that will allow the lipstick/lipstain stay on all day. I bought the Max Factor Lipfinity in number 191 called 'bronzed' a few months ago.

Max Factor say:  Up to 12 hour ultra long lasting lipstick. A lipstick that stays in place all day and doesn’t lose its ‛just applied look’! No other lip colour has the staying power of Lipfinity, an ultra long lasting and vibrant lip duo that together create a smooth, sheer finish for up to 12 hours! With semi permanent colour and a shine boosting, moisturising topcoat there’s no need to reapply, even after eating and drinking throughout your day – no matter how long it is, your lipstick’s still on!

There are two tubes in the packet, a lip balm and the lipstick colour. First step is to apply the lip colour which will stain the lips and then let it dry for a minute. Don't close your mouth, keep the lips apart. It dries on the lips pretty quickly, then you apply the clear lip balm as a top coat. You keep the lip balm with you and reapply when needed throughout the day.

The lip colour feels like a lipstick, easy to apply. Once its dried, my lips felt dry and I definitely needed some moisture in the lips which is what the lip balm provided.

The staying power on the Lipfinity is fantastic. I ate and drank and it stayed put. After about four hours I felt that my lips were dry, but the colour was still on my lips and looked good,  so I applied the lip balm and that was fine.

After about eight hours I did feel that the colour was wearing off a little in the middle of my lips, nothing too bad though. After the twelve hours you could see the wrinkling and wearing off of the colour.

Overall the Max Factor Lipfinity did work and has good all day staying power, however it does dry the lips out and you can tell straight away because the lips start tightening and feeling cracked. I guess this is expected though as it is staining the lips so the colour stays on all day. Once you reapply the lip balm they feel moisturised and good again. I reapply the top coat lip balm about four times in a twelve hour period.

I'm going to try a few of the other 'longer' lasting lipstick from loreal and covergirl to see how they compare.

Have you tried this? Have you tried a long lasting lipstick/lipstain, what did you think?

A VERY Sexy Video feat. music by Zeds Dead!

In this video, Ode to 2011 NSFW (Not Safe for Work), Zeds Dead remix to Massive Attack (Paradise Circus) is featured as the background music. The Zeds Dead Duo are two of my favourite DJs and this song is sick! Its safe to say that along with a banger of a track comes an extremely sexy video. And when I say sexy, I mean sexy. If you are not over the age of 18, do not continue on past this point. Like the page below to share it with your friends.

Check out the very sexy video below. Be warned: CONTAINS NUDITY!

Google Corporate Headquarters, Mountain View California

Clive Wilkinson Architects designed the central Google office campus Googleplex on Amphitheatre Parkway in Mountain View, California. As a kid I took a field trip to one of the original four buildings, then owned by Silicon Graphics. The place has changed since then.

The large campus is built on a reclaimed brownfield. Public trails connect the site to surrounding nature sites, as it is right next to the bay. Several blocks of Google buildings are close by. Solar panels shade the parking venues with filling stations for electric vehicles (though I didn't see any in use.) Major buildings are topped with rows of solar panels that probably only dent the massive power requirements for Google's machines.

Perks of the campus are evident. Tricycles litter the grounds, readily available for anyone who needs to quickly transport between buildings. Volleyball courts, cafes, public art, and private food gardens make the inside courtyard a pleasant place. Swimming pools, a gymn, laundry rooms and exciting art pieces make the interiors equally fun.

The post-modernist makeover isn't profound. The emphasis on green strategies is all for show. (Why else would Google CEO's use nearby Moffit Airbase for exclusive rights to fly to exotic getaways all the time? Not exactly carbon friendly!) But it is obviously a fun place to work. The architecture emphasizes a company continually on the cutting edge of technology.

Make sure you schedule a meeting with someone you know in Google before visiting. Otherwise they won't let you in.
