Student Complex Cambridgelaan, De Uithof Utrecht University

The Cambridgelaan student living facility joins other creative dormitories at Utrecht University campus Uithof, in the Netherlands. Rudy Uytenhaak Architectenbureau designed this project, completed in 1998.

The looming repetitive structure places great importance on the public corridor to the university library, establishing an important axis between living facilities and the heart of the school. SSHU and BO-EX constructed the grey giant. They were able to place 30,060 m2 of living space in a tiny footprint. It rises 51 m a full 17 floors. The full cost was 18,9 million €.
