Victoria & Albert Museum, London England

Captain Francis Fowke designed the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, London UK. It first opened in 1852 at the Marlborough House and then the Somerset House.

F.W. Moody added the fine ceramic stairway, and later additions in the Italian Renaissance style featured "saints" of six arts (a feature taken from the Chartres Cathedral). Godfrey Sykes, Kim Wilkie and other prominent architects added embellishments to this prominent example of Victorian style. The history of the museum greatly influences how the 4.5 million piece collection is considered.
