Hakata Primary School, Fukuoka Japan

Kazumi Kudo+Hiroshi Horiba designed the Hakata-ku Elementary School in Fukuoka City, Japan. It was completed in 2001. Functions on vertical layers portrude in or out of the structural system depending on the arrangement. A clearly linear arrangement is reinforced in the interior design with repetitive elements . Emphasis on public space gives a high-rise look to the building, with terraces, decks, and visual concentrations.

This project was featured in the international exhibition: "Parallel Nippon - Contemporary Japanese Architecture 1996-2006."
