Australis Lash Length Extension Mascara Review

Mascara is the one product that I love to try out a lot! So when Australis came out with the Lash Length Extensions mascara I was very keen to try it out.

Australis is a great Australian brand that has pretty good quality products at affordable prices.

Australis says: A lengthening mascara that works to lengthen lashes with fibres that attach themselves to the lids of the lashes. It is so lightweight you'll feel like you are not wearing any mascara at all! Creates long, defined and separated lashes in an instant. Contains easy wash-off tubing formulation for no 'panda eyes'.

 I naturally have long lashes, so I like a mascara that will accentuate my own. This mascara sounds great and works great too! I use it everyday and really like the results.

The packaging is cute with the black and pink colours, easy to use use and the wand is a skinny, long wand. It applies easily over the lashes and with a few coats does a great job at lengthening and adding definition to the lashes.

 I use this as a everyday mascara because it really does make the lashes look just nice and not too dramatic.

As you can see in the pictures above, the effect that this mascara gives is really nice. It lengthens my lashes and gives them great definition and curl. There is no smudging or flaking. This mascara also is easy to remove, which is a bonus!

 Overall, I would highly recommend the Australis Lash Length Extension Mascara, it does what it claims to do and gives a great effect to the lashes. It would suit everyone and great for everyday wear, with the ease of it coming off easily. It retails for $11.95aud which is great value!

Maybelline the Falsies Volum Express mascara review

Mascara is one of my favourite beauty products to own. I naturally have long lashes and love applying mascara to give me long, black volumised lashes. I usually stick to a mascara once I find one that I love but when I saw the Maybelline Falsies mascara on sale I had to get it to try.

The name behind the mascara 'Falsies' implies that your lashes will look like false lashes. I don't wear false lashes so I can't compare them to false lashes as such, nevertheless I was curious to give this a try.

The packaging is attractive a hot pink bottle with light blue writing on it - very enticing!

It comes with a flexible curved wand which I like as it makes applying mascara easier when applying with a curved wand. You need to start applying the product from the root of your lashes and work up.

The texture of the product is wet so its easy to apply over and over, but you need to be quick as it does dry pretty quickly too. I usually use two coats of this mascara, if I use anymore it can get clumpy.

I had to use this mascara a few times to really get how to use it. It gives me long, black, curved lashes which look great. I don't feel it gives as much volume as I'd like but it does make my lashes stand out and they do look great.

If your after a mascara that will give you long curved lashes this would be great to try, however do give it a few try's as it does take a while to get use to it. The Mayelline Falsies Volum Express mascara retails for $19aud from department stores or supermarkets.

Chanel fall collection 2010: Enigma, Inimitable Intense, Paradoxal

I finally went to pick up my reserved goodies... and I must say, I'm rather pleased with my latest Chanel purchases.

I picked up the Enigma (19) eyeshadow quad without even swatching it, which (thinking about it now) is usually a silly thing to do but I wanted it. That's a good enough reason, right?

* * *

I also got the new Inimitable Intense mascara, this simply being the technologically more advanced, more intense version of the already existing Inimitable. It holds the curl all day and gives my lashes a dramatic boost. Yes, I really like it! (and how gorgeous is/are the model(s)? Not sure if it's the same person?)

* * *

And I picked up Paradoxal (509), obviously. It's usually more purple than grey but it depends on the light. I applied two coats. (On the right: with a ham, cheese and mushroom crepe.)

* * *

I got some samples of the Beauté Initiale skincare. Has anyone tried it?

Thank you everyone and L'Oréal

Dearest friends: thank you so much for your support and for sharing your stories (for those of you who missed the news, an incompetent female idiot reversed into my new car this week). Your kind words made me feel so much better; I didn't feel like I was alone and I really can't thank you enough! So here are some pretty flowers for all of you...

Oh and if anybody knows any voodoo or how to channel fury and do harm from a distance, let me know asap!

* * *

I also want to thank L'Oréal. I was wearing a new mascara that day called Volume Million Lashes that did not make me look like a panda / witch in my moments of distress.

It has the kind of hard plastic brush that I like. The application is quite smooth and it doesn't clump.

But the real test was the 'accident' and the buckets of tears that I shed afterwards and:
1. the mascara did not sting (unlike my past experience with other L'Oréal mascaras, read about it here)
2. it did not budge too much and it kept my eyelashes separate, and
3. I still looked like I was wearing mascara at the end of each crying session.

All of this was without rubbing my eyes, of course. You know that when the eyes are wet - whether from rain or tears - it's best not to touch them.

Now I'm coming around to your blogs to say hello...

Mascara trial and error

Do you buy department store or drugstore products? I tend to only buy higher end stuff but when it comes to mascaras I do like to try different things. Years ago as a student I loved 2000 Calorie mascara by Max Factor. At the moment I love False Lash Effect. I think their mascaras are still some of the best.

I also used to have a favourite from Rimmel that had a comb brush (I can't remember what it was called, though). I've also quite liked Bourjois.

I've hated all the Maybelline mascaras, though, including the famous Great Lash. I've tried a lot of the L'Oréal ones, too, but when I discovered that they really sting when they get in the eyes (I cried wearing one), I chucked them all out.

Here are the mascaras I currently have in my drawer - only two are drugstore at the moment.

From left to right:
Max Factor False Lash Effect
L'Oréal Voluminous
Estée Lauder TurboLash
Chanel Exceptionnel
MAC Prep and Prime
MAC Pro Lash
MAC Zoom Lash
MAC Studio Fix Lash
MAC Dazzle Lash
MAC Fibre Rich Lash
Diorshow Black Out
Bobbi Brown Everything / Lash Glamour
Bobbi Brown Party

Max Factor's False Lash Effect has a plastic brush that I like. It lengthens and defines very well, with absolutely no clumping. I prefer it to L'Oréal's Voluminous, which I find clumpy. I had to try it, though, because a friend of mine swears by this.

Estée Lauder's Turbolash is battery operated so it kept on moving around as I photographed this! It's EL's best mascara but it's only okaaaay (because the others are all crap). The vibrating wand doesn't do anything a normal wand wouldn't do. If I had to buy another vibrating mascara I would go for Lancôme, as they generally do much better mascaras.

Exceptionnel de Chanel has an 'innovative six-sided application brush' that is part plastic comb and part normal brush. This means you have to rotate the brush as you apply it and this can be a bit tricky. I wasn't impressed at first but the more I use it, the more I like it. Here is a close up of the brush:

Of the MAC mascaras:
Prep and Prime doesn't really count because it's only a primer and a crap one, too (hate the corkscrew wand), but to be fair I'm not a fan of primers (you can always still see the white).
Pro Lash defines and separates. It's nothing special but good, if that makes sense. The brush is an odd shape, though.
Zoom Lash really combs your lashes, it feels a lot harder than most other brushes, and it's quick - it's not a mascara that you can re-apply and layer. I like it.
Studio Fix Lash is one of the newer ones from MAC. I like it because it has a plastic brush, which usually works well on me. It's a lot like the Max Factor False Lash Effect.
Dazzle Lash has a brush that is way too small, I find, so I only use it on my lower lashes.
Fibre Rich Lash is my least favourite.

Diorshow Blackout has a huge brush and it's for volume, volume, volume. A bit too much for my liking.

The two-in-one from Bobbi Brown was a limited edition from ages ago (yeah I still have it and it's still fine!) but they are sold separately in their permanent line.
Everything is quite good, it's supposed to do everything (volume, length, definition), hence the name, but as with anything Bobbi, it's understated. You'll never get the same kind of volume as with the Dior one.
Lash Glamour is waterproof and has a corkscrew brush that I don't like at all.
Party mascara is their newest one and it's supposed to add incredible volume... but still not like the Dior one. I don't really see a huge difference between this and Everything but maybe that's just me.

Today I used Exceptionnel de Chanel, added Max Factor's False Lash Effect over it, and applied MAC's Dazzle Lash to the lower lashes.

Mascara is one of those things that you just have to try yourself. What one person likes could be the worst mascara you've ever tried...

What's your favourite?
