Cesar Pelli designed the One Park West residential building in Liverpool, England next to Chavasse Park. Brock Carmichael Architects were the local leaders. An opaque glazed curtain wall raked into vertical mullions provides views overlooking the waterfront. The rational expression on the exterior facade also gives a view into the building, the various functions and levels of activity. It is a mixed-use facility; it has 16 floors with 326 apartments, offices and restaurants.
The master plan has 43 acres of green landscaping and buildings. Five urban quarters link this facility from the waterfront to the city. The gentle curvature of One Park West reinforces the movement of this park along Mersey River and inwards to the park and building structures. The city's two cathedrals are also considered in the sky-reaching design.
