Unilever House 100 Victoria Embankment, London England
Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates redeveloped the London Unilever office, completed in 2007. The 1931 building received a light, modern interior.
The upper conference room is surrounded by open glazing and greenery, a startling new sensibility for high-rise offices. Each space connects with other spaces in a new way, with minimal structure and little wall space. Complex tectonics in the floors establish very busy central atrium. The natural lighting, green roof, and other sustainable features earn this project a BREAAM "excellent" rating. This is an interesting case study for modern technology expounding on historic aesthetics.
It's also good publicity for a company famous for deforesting rainforests
