The North Eastern Railway Tynemouth Metro station in England, completed in 1882, and the new station completed in 1980. The old decrepit station is still to be seen across the tracks, as a Grade II historic building. The city planned a 16,000 sqft market revitalization project in late 2009.

This icon of early Industrial England has glass roofs suspended from iron structure. A wide space underneath is now used for farmers markets and other town gatherings.
